PhD in Histoire et civilisation presso il Centre de Recherches Historiques dell’Ecole de Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (CRH-EHESS, Paris), è oggi professoressa associata di Storia contemporanea presso il Dipartimento di Scienze Umanistiche dell’Università degli Studi di Catania (DISUM). Le sue ricerche vertono su temi di storia delle politiche comunitarie, regionalismi e municipalismi, decentramento, storia urbana e ambientale, processi di patrimonializzazione, in una prospettiva di comparazione europea. I suoi lavori monografici affrontano il tema del rapporto tra burocrazie tecniche, saperi esperti e politica tra età liberale e età repubblicana e concernono il governo urbano, i conflitti fra sviluppo e tutela paesaggistica e ambientale, le politiche nazionali e comunitarie per il Mezzogiorno. Già Regional representative for Italy nel direttivo della European Society for Environmental History (ESEH) (http://eseh.org/) è attualmente membro del direttivo nazionale della SISAm (Società Italiana di Storia Ambientale).
PhD in Histoire et civilisation at the Centre de Recherches Historiques of the Ecole de Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (CRH-EHESS, Paris), she is now associate professor of Contemporary History at the Department of Humanities, University of Catania (DISUM). Her research focuses on topics in the history of community policies, regionalisms and municipalism, decentralization, urban and environmental history, and processes of heritagization, from a European comparative perspective. Her monographic works address the relationship between technical bureaucracies, expert knowledge and politics in Italy between the liberal and republican ages and concern urban government, conflicts between development and landscape/environmental protection, history of national and EU policies for the South of Italy. A former regional representative for Italy on the board of the European Society for Environmental History (ESEH) (http://eseh.org/), she is currently a member of the national board of SISAm (Italian Society of Environmental History).
