Marcella Marmo is a full professor of Contemporary History at the University of Naples, Federico II. Her research activity has focused on: 1) urban history in the liberal age, with particular reference to economic structures and social movements in Naples; 2) XIXth Century Camorra and other forms of organized crime in Southern Italy, according to a social and penal history as well as to a gender perspective; 3) Southern Italy’s representations carried out by some national XXth century political literature (Carlo Levi) and cinematographic culture (Risorgimento films; camorra and brigantaggio films).
